Hello, all!
Growing up, I was seriously into the Baby Sitters Club. I tried to copy their outfits, I hid candy around my room, and I diagnosed myself with diabetes more times that I care to remember. I always wanted to read the books in publication order, but I kind of outgrew the series before I could collect them all and do that. As an adult, I got swept up in the whole wave of nostalgia surrounding old YA series, and decided to finally finish my collection and do that read-through. That's what this blog is about; I'm going to go through the entire series, start to finish, and blog every outfit, dance, and Sea City trip for your enjoyment! The BSC will be the primary focus, but I haven't ruled out blogging about other YA books (especially other Ann M. Martin books) if I need a break from BSC-land. It's a big project, but I promise to update often. Expect the first few posts soon!
Does the world really need another BSC blog? Probably not, but it's getting one anyway. :) Enjoy the ride!

I am personally quite excited about you taking this on! I have all but the Secret Santa and Chain Letter books sitting in a box in my Mom's basement so this is super awesome!
ReplyDeleteGlad you're excited. :) It's a little overwhelming to look at my list and see exactly how far I still have to go, but it'll be fun. One book at a time, right? :)
ReplyDeleteI'm pretty excited that I found your blog. I too went through a phase where I re-read a lot of BSC books and just from reading a few of your post I can tell that you were alarmed by some of the same things I was alarmed at. While re- reading the BSC books I just kept thinking, "I would never let these girls babysit my children."
ReplyDeleteBut I still love them.
welcome to the community.
ReplyDeletelove your blogs by the way
I discovered the Babysitters club books in a broken
ReplyDeletebookshelf in my fourth grade classroom. I started with the ultimate guide ( Litarlly everthing mentioned in the BSC books)and jumped around after that. Another thing though kaitlyn why exactly would you not want them to babysit your kids? I am the exct oppisite of you.
I remember reading some of these books when I was a teenager. I think I probably stopped somewhere in the 40s or 50s. I read maybe about 5 of the Super Specials, and maybe 3 or 4 of the mysteries. Can't wait to find out what happens in some of these books that I have never read, much less heard of. I didn't even realize that there are over 130 books in the series. Guess it has been a while. May have to find a few to read just to see how the babysitters are all doing.
ReplyDeleteHey Emily, how come you never blogged secret santa and chain letter???? Your bsc blog is my absolute fave!!!
ReplyDeleteoh and did you buy every bsc book (ones that you didn't already have) in order for you to read and do this blog?
ReplyDeleteHey there, I'm a bored British kid who fell into this series entirely by mistake, and you got yourself a regular reader in me, from the look of it!
ReplyDeleteHey Emily!!! I LOVE (or LUV:) your blog!!! I just keep reading it and reading it ;) I was searching up a bsc cover and found your link. I clicked on it and VOILA! Joined the club! I read the whole blog backwards first time which was a BIT confusing;) still love it though and still would die to join their world :)
ReplyDeleteI am SUCH a huge BSC fan and I'm SO unbelievably glad to have found this blog!!! Thank you thank you thank you!!! Reading your blog has kept me so entertained while reading the books again. I actually just bought 15 books from Amazon that I probably have still but can't find and absolutely must read again ASAP. Your blog is holding me over until they get in next week so I appreciate that. You're hilarious, insightful, and so spot on all the time - i swear, you take the words right out of my mouth so often in your reviews and summaries.
ReplyDeleteOH and by the way - i just found on Netflix the TV Series is available for instant stream! I have a bunch of the tapes anyway but still, how awesome! The movie is on there too but like.. i have so many problems with it. I luv it anyway bc, come on! it's the babysitter's club! but i'm sure you can understand how many gripes i have with it - especially Alan Gray and Dawn - WTF is that?! I luv'd the TV Show growing up too, although i didn't know it was a show until I found it on Netflix last week - i thought they just made a few tapes that my mom so graciously bought me, haha. :) But don't get me wrong, the books are obviously hands down the best out there and beat the tapes, movies, shows whatever by a landslide. :)
Just for the record, I'm 29 right now and actually re-reading the series yet again for the i don't even know how manieth time ;) They don't get old and I cant get enough of them, and now, i cant get enough of your blog! THANK YOU!
